Most of the children we support attend public primary schools in Jimma Town because their families cannot afford anything else. Even there, a uniform, exercise books, a bag and shoes can be the difference between attending and staying home.
We provide these materials at the start of each school year, organise after-school tutorial support for pupils who are falling behind, and track enrolment, retention and progression — especially for girls — so dropouts are noticed and brought back.
For the youngest, we have renovated and built kindergarten classrooms inside public schools, supplied small chairs, tables and play materials, and celebrate every graduation.
